Main Ski Resorts

Tanvaldský Špičák is the largest ski resort in the Jizera Mountains. It offers a wide range of options for beginners, advanced skiers, and children. The resort is equipped with several slopes of varying difficulty, modern snowmaking, and facilities for families.

Rokytnice nad Jizerou (Horní Domky and Lysá hora) is among the five largest resorts in the Czech Republic. It offers up to 17 km of slopes for all levels, a modern four-seater chairlift to the peak of Lysá hora (1,198 m a.s.l.), a snowpark, a children’s area, night skiing, rental shops, ski buses, and refreshments.

Harrachov – Čertova hora offers four main slopes ranging from 1.3 to 2.2 km in length, from blue to black. Thanks to technical snowmaking, skiing here is possible long into the season. In the Zákoutí area, you will find short slopes for children and the Amálka training slope with evening operation.

Smaller Resorts and Family Ski Areas

You’ll find smaller, yet very popular resorts in Albrechtice, Kořenov and its surroundings. Popular options include Detoa, U Čápa – Příchovice, Pod Štěpánkou, Selský dvůr, Mariánská Hora or Filip – Smržovka – all ideal for families with children or skiers looking for quieter slopes.

Studenov is a family-friendly resort with a welcoming atmosphere and 3.8 km of slopes. It is located directly above the center of Rokytnice nad Jizerou and is ideal for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Modern facilities with a cable car and snowpark can be found in Rejdice. Larger slopes with comprehensive services are offered by Zásada, Šachty in Vysoké nad Jizerou, Lucifer in Josefův Důl or Kamenec in Jablonec nad Jizerou.

Peaceful family ski destinations include Dobrá Voda, Pašák in Vilémov, Dráček in Alšovice or Větrov.

Also very popular is Severák – Hrabětice, an extensive resort with many lifts, children’s parks, and good conditions for lessons too. Lovers of peaceful skiing without crowds will appreciate Jizerský kopec in Příchovice or Petruškovy vrchy.

Cross-country skiing

Jizerská magistrála
Jizerská magistrála offers over 200 km of groomed trails suitable for both classic and skate skiing. The trails lead through the picturesque landscape of the Jizera Mountains – through forests, plains, peat bogs, and past scenic viewpoints.

Among the main starting points are Horní Polubný, Jizerka – Mořina, Albrechtice, Josefův Důl – Peklo, Desná – přehrada Souš, Mariánská Hora and the central stadium in Bedřichov, from where there is access to all main trails.

Other Cross-country Skiing Locations
In addition to the main magistrala, you can also go cross-country skiing in Zásada and its surroundings, where there are approximately 10 km of groomed tracks, or to the area of Příchovice, where a beautiful circuit awaits you, passing through Hvězda and the Štěpánka lookout tower.

Excellent cross-country skiing conditions are also offered by Polish Jakuszyce, where there are over 100 km of professionally groomed trails. Local excursions include, for example, a route to Orle with refreshment options, panoramic views of Samolotu or Kozi Grzbiet, tranquil forest sections on Górnym Duktu, a border crossing to Jizerka or the less frequented route Rozdroże pod Cichą Równią.

Ski Mountaineering in the Jizera Mountains

The Jizera Mountains are ideally suited for ski mountaineering, primarily due to their diverse terrain, accessibility, and nature that directly beckons you to explore. Although you won’t find dramatic Alpine slopes here, the range of tours for ski mountaineers of all levels is surprisingly varied.

An excellent starting point is Jizerka and the adjacent areas of Kamenice, Bukovce, or the peat bogs around Smědava. These locations offer beautiful views, tranquility, and natural terrains that are off marked trails but well-skiable. The area around Bukovce also appeals to more experienced ski mountaineers – offering shorter but steeper ascents with the possibility of repeated training.

Bedřichov is also very popular, from where you can easily connect to groomed cross-country ski trails and ascend towards Královka or Holubník. More experienced athletes often set out from Josefův Důl via Mariánská Hora all the way to Protržená přehrada and back. This circuit offers a combination of wide forest paths and open plains.

On the border of the Jizera Mountains and Krkonoše, ski mountaineers often set out from Kořenov or Rejdice, from where routes lead to the Štěpánka peak and further along the ridge. Also popular is the traverse from Rokytnice nad Jizerou via Studenov towards Harrachov. This route is also suitable in less favorable weather, as most of the path runs through the forest.

If you prefer a safer environment, some ski slopes – for example, at Tanvaldský Špičák, in Rejdice or at Severák – offer ascents along the edges of the slopes outside operating hours. These routes are ideal for evening training or for getting acquainted with the equipment.

Although the Jizera Mountains are not among the wildest ski mountaineering destinations, it is precisely their tranquility, accessibility, and safe terrain that make them an excellent spot for both beginners and advanced enthusiasts of this sport.
